Christina Atanasova
Christina Atanasova is a Professor of Finance and the Philip Hochstein Research Fellow at the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University. She joined Simon Fraser University in 2007 after holding a tenure-track position at the University of York. She is also a Visiting Professor at the Center for Policy Design at the Graduate School of Economics and Management, Tohoku University in Japan.
Professor Atanasova’s research studies how financial markets price risk and incentives, with a particular focus on derivatives markets and volatility risk premia. A central strand of her recent research examines crypto derivatives markets, analyzing the pricing of volatility and tail risk in cryptocurrencies and other digital asset options. Other streams of her research focus on climate transition risk in energy markets and agency problems in empirical corporate finance.
Outside academia, Christina enjoys alpine climbing and spends much of her free time in the mountains.
